Praying, I have found from experience, is a desire that comes from the heart. I have explained in other posts on this blog, that having a grateful attitude is of tremendous help in delivering your petitions to God.
In other words, you are asking the highest authority in the universe to help you with something very special, or it could be a simple request. I have also noticed that the more regularly I pray, the easier it is for me to connect with God. I don't feel that this avenue is made only for 'special authorities' on earth with any particular training. We are all considered children of God, and for that very reason, we have the right to go straight to Him with our requests.
The same as a son or a daughter feels when going to their parents for help or advice, we should also exercise the same liberty when going to God. Sometimes it is to speak to Him over something that you have in mind. Other times, you may just want to say, "Thanks dear God for today."
When a situation is serious in your life, such as a terminal illness without recourse for you or a member of your family, where does prayer come in? For God nothing is impossible. He said it, and we should listen. The question is, does He save everyone that asks Him to save their lives, or that of a loved one from a deadly illness? Unfortunately, the answer is No!
A young brother of mine died in an accident at the age of 14, and an older brother of cancer at the age of 61. I will be 65 years old soon, and my life has been spared enough times to write a book. Why was I given a longer life? I just don't know, but I am sincerely grateful for that. Do I pray for others daily, yes of course, including my own family and friends.
What should be our objective in praying directly to God, or to Jesus or his mother the Virgin Mary, or other saints? We are human, we are vulnerable to the elements, and we need to; therefore, our objective should be to reach them for divine intervention, help and assistance. A prayer of gratitude, a prayer for protection, a life or death situation, all and any of these examples require that you and I reach the almighty for help.
It will be His will not ours that will determine the outcome. Just don't hesitate to go to God for help anytime of the day.
If you should need someone to pray for you, I am Catholic and on Thursday mornings I take my petitions to the Virgin Mary at my church in Coral Springs, Florida. If you know of someone who is very ill and they need a grateful and retired executive to pray for them, please give me their first name only and the nature of their illness. You have access to my email. Please feel free to send your request. I want nothing from you but the opportunity to pray for you or your loved one. I do pray for anyone that comes to me, regardless of their religion or beliefs.
You may want to read the articles which I have published in Ezine Articles on this blog, regarding prayer and holy water. Please share my email and blog with whomever you feel needs an assist.

Love, Blessing, Protection and Holy Water for your Pets
Just recently, the test of divine power was present in the lives of two animals. One happens to be a calico cat named Isabel and the other is a muscovy duck named Beatrice. Both animals came to be 'adopted' by my daughter and me. The cat was abandoned a few years ago by a previous owner, and she just wondered around the apartment complex.
Eventually, people came to liking her and began to feed her. She is now under the care of my daughter, and gets fed right outside our door every day. I, on the other hand, adopted a muscovy duck almost 7 years ago. These ducks are common in Florida, and she has come to my back patio almost every day, except when she used to go away for a month or so. For a few years, she bred her own brood, but now she is getting on in years and probably unable to do so.
Both of these animals came close to getting decimated the other day by two large dogs that were running lose in the complex. Beatrice the duck was absent the day that the dog killed a young female duck. I heard a commotion outside my apartment, only to see one of the dogs with a large duck in his mouth being mauled. I scared the dogs away, and went looking for Beatrice. She was nowhere to be found. A day later she reappeared in my back yard.
When I went chasing the two dogs, I found them in the parking lot with their owner. I advised him to leach the dogs in the complex, and he agreed. Then one of his dogs ran after Isabel the cat, who happened to be sitting by the bushes. When I saw the dog that killed the duck go after Isabel the cat, I jumped in front of the dog, and yelled at him to stop.
The dog must have gotten scared, and stopped right on his tracks. That saved that cat!
I call it good timing that Beatrice the duck was absent from the melee, otherwise she couldn't have taken flight so fast. And Isabel was one lucky cat that I was there to watch-out for her.
Here's my point: both animals are not owned by anyone, and each lives on their own, except for the food and the sweet words that they receive from my daughter and me. And yet, both animals are included in our prayers, and they have both received blessings with holy water.
Does God afford protection for the animals that are helpless and abandoned? I believe that He does, and that is why we pray for the people that we love, and those animals that have been friends and faithful to us. Placing holy water on our two 'adopted' pets was as natural as doing it for my family. You are giving them protection for the times that you cannot be there to help them.
Leave it to God to do that for you!

An Accident on Highway I95—Application of Prayer and Holy Water
I was called one evening last July by my son who is 20 years old. He said that his Jeep Cherokee had just had a tire blow-out, and the vehicle had careened across highway I95 while he was going South from Glades Blvd. in Boca Raton, Florida. I asked him if he was alright, and he said yes!
I told him that I would go and pick him up. I recall the time was 11 pm, and he had just gotten off from work. When I arrived at the scene of the accident, I saw his Jeep facing in the opposite direction (North) by the low concrete wall that separates the highway.
Near his Jeep was a Mustang parked that had collided with my son's vehicle. A few minutes later, I asked why was there a car upside down across the highway on the grassy bank. The owner of the Mustang said that the other driver had dodged hitting my son's Jeep, and he lost total control of his car. It was a rainy night, and the driver swerved and skated across the highway; eventually sliding downward on the wet and grassy side, causing the car to roll over on to its top.
This was a three-car accident, and only one person got seriously hurt. An ambulance had to take the driver from the car that sat upside down to the hospital. My son was shaken-up, but with no injuries at all. The lady in the Mustang told me the same for her. All three vehicles had to be towed away.
Where does prayer and holy water come in on this story? The Jeep Cherokee was blessed with holy water years back. My son is blessed every day with holy water when I see his picture on my laptop. I do the same for my other two kids. I say prayers for my children, and other family members every day without fail.
Anything could have happened that evening. The car that avoided him completely might have crashed right onto his Jeep, and very likely causing major fatalities. The lady in the Mustang saw what had happened, and she was able to slow down her car. She still hit my son's Jeep, but with less force. When my son remained in his Jeep in the middle of the highway facing the wrong direction, other vehicles speeding at 70-plus miles an hour could have crashed onto him, but nothing else occurred. The fire rescue people arrived on time, and they moved the damaged cars to the side of the highway.
We need to pray for our family members every day. We can't depend on others to do it for us, unless we are not capable of praying ourselves. There are many situations, conditions, and elements in our daily lives that we all need to avoid for our safety, and our lives if need be. For that protection, we have to ask for divine intervention. That can only come from praying and asking God.
How should holy water be applied? I mentioned in my previous posts to place the holy water on your laptop photos, or on hard photo prints with plastic on them. All that you need to say as you make the sign of the cross on the photo with your finger wet with the water is: "Dear Lord, please protect and keep safe (name person here), and I thank You very much." Just follow this procedure once a day. That will take you no more than a minute of your time. I suggest that you do it for your loved ones that commute to school or work, or both, or that might be living in other locations.
This simple ritual of prayer combined with holy water contains an enormous amount of power behind it. You are asking, not begging, the highest authority in the Universe to protect you and your loved ones. You have everything to gain by praying to God, so that you and your family members may live safely and peacefully.
